Saraswathi Mahal Library

The Thanjavur Saraswathi Mahal Library exhibits a unique ingathering of manuscripts made out of dried out palm leaves and composition scripted in English, Hindi and South Indian languages. The library collection consists of over 60,000 books, although only a small part of these is on presentation. The library is in a process of publishing rare manuscripts and securing all books are saved on microfilm. The library is fully computerized and the process of digitalizing the manuscripts is presently shaping up.
